My husband, who turned 65 in April, is sitting on the front porch on a beautiful fall day. Kirk retired at the end of 2024.

That Kirk was able to retire is due to the expert guidance we got from Falstad & Associates and Josh Brooks. Kirk was uncertain of our financial future for many years. He was the sole breadwinner for most of our 40 years of marriage. In our early years, I stayed home to raise our kids. Then my return to the work force, once the kids were in school, was cut short by a chronic, crippling illness.

But after just a few years of guidance, Josh Brooks at Falstad had our finances in good shape. Josh’s planning allowed Kirk to retire 4 months before his 65th birthday.

Kirk started working at 14 years old in his dad’s metal working shop earning $1.00 an hour. It makes me happy to see him enjoying a beautiful afternoon on the porch with nothing to do and all day to get it done!

For years I searched for someone who could help me determine if or when I could retire.  I spoke with numerous financial advisors who listened to my request and promised to get back to me.  None did.  Then Falstad & Associates showed up on an internet search, the same search I had done many times before.  I called.  They immediately set up a face-to-face meeting.

This first meeting aimed to evaluate if we were fit for each other.  I was very impressed with their team, the principles they followed, and how they provide advice and guidance through such a crucial life event.  I felt great comfort when we both agreed we should proceed.  Additional meetings were scheduled, during which they gathered all the financial information.  But also, and I think more importantly, they got to know my wife and I personally.

Within two years of that first meeting, my future outlook turned from “doubt if I’ll ever be able to retire” to “I’m retired and living comfortably with a smile.”  Most importantly I am thankful for and confident of the knowledgeable, talented, and caring team of people, my new friends, that are now on my side!
